This job is primarily responsible for performing work associated with the scale, probe or in a facility where those functions are combined.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Grain grader and/or weighing certificate; if not obtained before hire must obtain in time applicable to perform job duties
  • Working knowledge of computers and software
  • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to follow direction and to use logical thought process to interpret oral and written instructions and troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally

Responsibilities

  • Weighing trucks in/out trucks
  • Taking grain samples
  • Grading grain and recording information
  • Utilizing strong customer service skills to build professional relationships with company customers
  • Participating in the company Safety Program and attending daily pre-shift meetings
  • Performing all duties within compliance of OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations
  • Identifying inbound trucks and weighing in trucks
  • Recording information and taking samples
  • Performing appropriate tests required for the grading of specific grains
  • Electronically recording information required e.g. grades, splits, weights
  • Directing trucks to the appropriate location
  • Weighing out empty trucks and accurately recording information
  • Completing documentation timely, accurately and legibly
  • Labeling and storing samples according to facility protocol
  • Performing general clean-up including sweeping, shoveling, washing, painting and other general housekeeping responsibilities
  • Assisting with ground piles, cleaning bins, rail duties, etc.
