About The Position

Known for our iconic double-bubble bottle, we grow, harvest, package, and market fresh pomegranates, pomegranate arils, and a selection of delicious pomegranate-blended juices and teas. With over 9,000 acres in California’s Central Valley, POM Wonderful is committed to unleashing the antioxidant power of our handpicked pomegranates. The Seasonal Quality Specialist is responsible for assisting in maintaining processing records to support product, packaging, and ingredient holds, and in reviewing documents for product release. Review manufacturing process records to ensure that customer and regulatory requirements are met. Review, create, and maintain daily production files, which include all production processing, quality paperwork, and other site-wide documents for other departments. Also will assist in supervision of all quality assurance functions, implementation, development, audit and maintenance of plant’s quality and food safety systems. Also, including HACCP helps ensure compliance and customer satisfaction by monitoring personnel, training, and maintaining technical expertise. Provide technical support and resources to quality assurance personnel, production, and other plant departments.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with state-specific food safety laws.
  • Ability to see the plan with business perspectives, and work hands-on to complete given tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to provide guidance and assistance to all levels of employees, with professional communication skills, directing personnel on duties and assignments.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines consistently, performing efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to scheduling and environments.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to perform analysis and communicate results effectively.
  • Computer-literate, intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • At least having a high school diploma or a recognized equivalent such as a General Educational Development (GED) certificate and experience in a leading capacity, with a specific emphasis in food safety preferably within a production/manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Record Review
  • The record review function should be viewed as the final control measure to ensure product safety. Not later than one working day after production and before the product is released for distribution, a qualified representative of plant must review, date and sign the required records. The thorough review is necessary to determine whether the records are complete, the scheduled process has been properly applied, and the critical factors have been correctly controlled.
  • The individual responsible for reviewing the records should watch for deficiencies in recordkeeping or normal monitoring procedures that must be corrected immediately, investigated thoroughly for potential problems or trends, and prompt a review and possible update of existing procedures.
  • Recordkeeping
  • Responsible for Record Retention. Maintain accurate records and logs of all non-conforming products and/or product releases. Assure the release of products in a timely manner. Assure the disposition of non-conforming products, raw material, and packaging in a timely manner
  • Quality and Food Safety
  • Development, implementation and maintenance of all applicable elements of the POM Wonderful Quality and Food Safety systems in order to assure compliance.
  • Technical Assistance
  • Responsible for providing technical assistance to Quality Assurance operations and aiding in achieving product quality.
  • Teamwork
  • Promote communication, involve staff and employees, support staff, communicate objectives and develop employee potential. Assist in leading problem-solving efforts through team meetings and on-the-floor leadership to effectively influence positive change and continuous improvement.
  • Auditing
  • Daily auditing of site-wide records, which include, but are not limited to, quality and production records. Support the Internal Auditing Program.
  • HACCP
  • Responsible for understanding and supporting the sustainment and development of POM Wonderful’s HACCP Food Safety Program.
