About The Position

The Seasonal Program Specialist is primarily responsible for facilitating and managing the day-to-day logistics of a portfolio of 20-25 programs through regular site visits, program observations, and providing actionable recommendations to enhance program quality, safety, compliance, instruction, attendance, enrollment, and retention, as well as addressing other critical areas. This is a temporary seasonal full-time position from August 2025 to December 19, 2025, requiring flexible work hours consistent with out-of-school time programming, which are between 8am-6pm for the summer program session. Fall and Spring session hours may vary: 9:30AM to 5:30PM, 10:00AM-6:00PM, 11:00AM-7:00PM, or 11:30AM-7:30PM. Must be available on some Saturdays as needed during program sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3+ years of youth development experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and insured transportation.
  • Cook County residency required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide coaching to a diverse program portfolio, including after school, daytime, and specialized content area programming.
  • Track and analyze program data to identify trends, address challenges, and implement strategies that maximize participation and retention.
  • Assist in the recruitment process of program staff and oversee the selection of returning programs.
  • Assess program quality and compliance and provide budget and portfolio reports to Senior Program Manager and Program Director.
  • Conduct regular program site visits and make recommendations for Youth Program Quality Assessments.
  • Act as the primary contact for instructors, community/campus liaisons, and school staff for programs.
  • Review and submit timesheet approvals for all employee instructors and community/campus liaisons.
  • Plan, schedule, organize, and conduct all assigned meetings with partners and community liaisons.
  • Coordinate community outreach efforts to promote programs and recruit participants.
  • Gather feedback from community members to create new programs and improve existing ones.
