About The Position

Assist with day camp activities for children and perform related tasks as required. Supervise day camps and interact with campers, participants, and their parents, and provide indoor and outdoor enrichment programs. Ensure the safety and well-being of program participants and perform other duties as required. This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or currently enrolled in high school.
  • Valid, Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or the ability to obtain during staff training.

  • Frequent Sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing/listening
  • Repetitive motion using digits and hands, keyboarding, and manipulating objects
  • Communication of information and ideas to others helps them understand. Must be able to share accurate information face-to-face, over the telephone, and on the radio
  • Twisting, reaching, overhead reaching, and pushing
  • Must have visual acuity for close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
  • Bending, twisting, stooping, crouching, crawling
  • Occasionally Required to sit
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) summer of experience in a day camp or playground setting is preferred.
  • Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive atmosphere for children through camp activities.
  • Responsible for leading or assisting with camp activities.
  • Actively participate in all assigned program areas.
  • Be a role model to campers, participants, and staff in your attitude and behavior.
  • Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.
  • Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
  • Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.
  • Ensure camp activities conform to the City and Angleton ISD guidelines
  • Conduct various recreational activities and crafts as outlined in the daily or weekly schedule.
  • Properly supervise campers at all times.
  • Provide supervision for campers while campers are transported to and from camp or during scheduled field trips off-site.
  • Attending pre-camp training and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance are adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to the supervisor.
  • Provide campers and parents with assistance and information on programs, activities, and events.
  • Arrange equipment, supplies, chairs, and tables in designated rooms or other areas for scheduled games and programs.
  • Demonstrate proper methods for storing and cleaning equipment to safeguard facilities and equipment.
  • Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communication as requested.
  • Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid.
  • Must be able to assist campers and participants in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury)
  • Must be able to manage children aged seven to thirteen years of age in a disciplined and friendly nature.
