Seasonal Process Operator - 1st Shift (West Plant)

The hourly rate for this position at Scotts/Hawthorne will generally fall between $21.00 - 21.00 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. What you'll do in this role: Perform a safety check of the equipment to ensure it is safe to operate. Performs daily assignments as directed by team Group Leader or Supervisor Actively maintain good housekeeping standards in their assigned area Safely operate a forklift to transport materials. Ensure stocks of needed materials are ready and available at all times. Ability to learn multiple pieces of automated equipment and flexibility to move to different work stations daily. Effectively communicate and relay information to peers and/or supervisors concerning the performance of the production line as it pertains to the assembly, operation and performance of the line. Perform various manufacturing inspection protocols to ensure plant quality standards on granular packaging products and display units. Adhere to plant safety rules and programs as it pertains to self and all other associates.
Requirements
- Position entails prolonged and repetitive motion of standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching overhead and arms/hands dexterity
- Ability to drive a forklift
- Ability to climb on and off of required equipment
- Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs and meet man-lift requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to read and write English and/or be able to follow instructions
- Must pass the minimum fit for duty physical (annually)
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime including weekends and holidays.
- Able to work in a dusty hot/cold/humid environment
- Able to lift 50 pounds, and be on their feet for 8-12 hours a day.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of one plus years of production plant experience is preferred.
- Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, ability to make decisions regarding equipment adjustments to meet product specifications and quality conformity.
- Must be a team player and promote teamwork amongst production lines, departments and shifts.
