Your Opportunity: The Herff Jones Production team is looking for a Seasonal Prepress Technician to join our Indianapolis facility. This is a full-time seasonal role supporting peak production, with the opportunity to convert to full-time employment based on performance, attendance, and business needs. Schedule:Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PMHours may extend to 10–12 hour shifts and occasional weekends during peak season (November–May).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Past experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro)
- Ability to update print-ready files and manage data merges
- Understanding of vector separations and layered design files
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to interpret job tickets and manufacturing specifications
- Basic math proficiency (fractions, decimals, measurements, percentages)
- Comfortable using Excel, Outlook, Oracle, and related systems
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Support the printing and production of announcements, diplomas, and fine paper products used to celebrate student achievements
- Prepare, update, and optimize output files for offset and digital printing
- Ensure template consistency and manufacturing accuracy across product lines
- Maintain quality standards and reduce rework through detailed file review and corrections
- Keep production flowing by identifying and resolving prepress issues quickly
- Process prepress tickets according to standard operating procedures
- Prepare and modify files for digital and offset printing
- Proof files and troubleshoot quality or formatting issues
- Monitor template integrity and consistency
- Participate in root-cause analysis for production errors
- Communicate with internal teams to ensure accurate job completion
- Maintain accurate production and workflow records
- Assist other departments as needed to support production goals
