About The Position

Under immediate supervision, to perform semi-skilled labor in construction, maintenance, and related service activities in the Parks Division.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of employment.
• No experience required for Seasonal Parks Worker.
• Six months experience in performing basic maintenance or related duties for Seasonal Parks Lead.
• Valid Utah Driver's License for Seasonal Parks Lead.
• Knowledge of methods, techniques, and tools used in the construction and maintenance of parks, landscaped areas, and related facilities.
• Knowledge of basic park maintenance and general construction tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of safe driving principles and practices.
• Skill with operating a variety of mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner.
• Skill with performing heavy manual labor for extended periods of time in all types of weather.
• Skill with operating a motor vehicle safely.
• Skill with learning City policies, procedures and codes related to parks maintenance.
• Ability to perform park maintenance, landscaping, reconstruction, and repair work.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Responsibilities

• Mows, waters, and maintains lawns and other landscapes.
• Pruning, weeding, spraying, tree planting, or removal of trees.
• Operates simple hand and power tools; operates simple equipment in moving materials.
• Assists with minor construction projects which may include work in painting, concrete, carpentry and fence repair.
• Assists with minor repairs to sprinkling system.
• Performs other service maintenance duties as assigned.
• Cleaning of public restrooms, park pavilions, park properties, and emptying of trash cans.
• Leads supervise seasonal staff and perform as part of a crew.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
