About The Position

SUMMARY: Perform one or more packaging functions through rotation from packer positions to floor positions. Duties will include hand packing, material handling, maintenance of equipment and glue hoppers, palletizing and stretch wrapping containers, entering raw and finished products into the inventory control system, and operating an X-ray machine. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  ❖ Set up equipment and observe operation to detect the proper setting for the current customer and their specifications. Forwards information for quality checks such as proper coding, scale calibration, material usage, and inventory control.  ❖ Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as equipment changes, material changes, rework, or clearing away damaged product containers.  ❖ Inspect pouches, cartons, and filled containers to ensure that product is packed, coded, weighed, and cooled according to specifications.  ❖ Replenish packaging supplies such as wraps, inserts, slip sheets, stretch wraps, pallets, boxes, glue, ink, and or labels.  ❖ Clear all the rejects from the x-ray machine, such as under- or over-weight cases or rejects for foreign objects in the product.  ❖ Control inventory of corrugate in the inventory control system, keep glue boxes at operating levels, and control any rework materials that need to be repacked or returned to the filling area.  ❖ Performs sanitation and preventative maintenance of the area.  ❖ Understands and uses current Good Manufacturing Practices to perform work.  ❖ Understand Critical Control Points of the area and is responsible for the routine checks and documentation of those checks.  ❖ Understands and uses the Standard Operating Procedures for the area.  ❖ Fill out paperwork accurately and keep it current through work shift.  ❖ Perform hourly testing to ensure customers’ and company specifications are met.  ❖ Assist with maintaining proper sanitation and cleanliness on the designated production line in accordance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.  ❖ Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and/or two 2 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production process
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and its applications.
  • Knowledge of computers and electronics
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule/specification
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others orally or in writing.
  • Attention to Detail
  • Ability to read and understand information
  • Ability to listen and understand information
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to organize and direct oneself and others
  • Basic mechanical skills with troubleshooting abilities.
  • Must be able to become certified and maintain certification through an OSHA-approved forklift certification
