Seasonal Overnight Campsite Inventory Technician

Appalachian Trail Conservancy
4d$18 - $20

About The Position

The Seasonal Overnight Campsite Inventory Technician reports directly to the Data Manager. This position supports ATC’s Sustainable Overnight Site (SOS) Program, a key initiative marking a benchmark in the Appalachian Trail’s second century of stewardship. Working independently, the technician will systematically apply ATC’s campsite inventory protocol to evaluate all discernible overnight sites both user-created and ATC- or partner-endorsed—along two primary sections of the Appalachian Trail: from I-26 near Asheville, NC, to Damascus, VA, and from northern New Jersey to Katahdin, ME. A professional Recreation Ecologist will provide comprehensive training, and each technician will receive a campsite inventory kit. Backpacking will be necessary to effectively reach and assess all areas within the designated trail sections.
