Schedule Requirements The 2026 outdoor pool season will be June 8 – August 16 (subject to change). Most indoor and outdoor pools are open 7 days per week during the summer. Our ideal Recreation Assistant candidate is committed to working at least 15 - 20 hours per week during the busy summer season, has availability to work on weekends, and limited extended time-off during the outdoor pool season. Location These positions will work exclusively at select outdoor pools for the Summer 2026 season (June 8 – August 16, subject to change). What We Offer All Recreation Assistants with DPR are paid $19.29/hour. These positions are seasonal in nature and are expected to conclude at end of the outdoor pool season (June 8 – August 16, subject to change). On-call positions are eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. We offer flexible scheduling around class schedules, extracurricular activities, and other home or life demands so you can help keep your community active at the pool at the times that work for you. Depending on the staffing needs of the outdoor pool they are assigned to, on‐call positions may have a routine or variable work schedule and will work no more than 39 hours per week. What You’ll Do Come make a splash this summer! The City and County of Denver’s Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is looking to hire Seasonal Outdoor Pool Recreation Assistants to support operations at a select number of outdoor pools this summer. These seasonal roles will perform a variety of functions to support the day-to-day operations of a municipal outdoor pool. From clerical duties to customer service to facility work, this is great opportunity for individuals looking to make a direct impact in their community. As an Outdoor Pool Recreation Assistant, you will: Assist with front desk operations, which includes greeting customers, answering phone calls, and providing customers with membership and program information Complete monetary transactions using the ActiveNet point-of-sale system including cash/check handling and credit card processing, issuing ID cards, delivering payment confirmations and receipts, and performing other monetary-related transactions Assist with monitoring the day-to-day operations of an outdoor pool while supporting a safe environment for visitors Deliver a high level of knowledgeable and friendly customer service to visitors Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of an outdoor pool Maintain order amongst participants and spectators and aim to resolve disputes that may arise Assist with emergency situations such as medical emergencies, evacuations, suspicious behavior and activity, or other unexpected situations, as necessary Assist with the set up and take down of equipment for facility rentals, activities, and special events Perform other related duties, as assigned The 2026 outdoor pool season is from June 8 – August 16 (subject to change). Candidates must be able to attend agency-required customer service and ActiveNet (point-of-sale) training, which is provided at no cost, prior to the start of the summer. What You’ll Bring Our ideal candidates will have a strong enthusiasm for engaging with the public and a deep appreciation of their role in delivering exceptional customer service to visitors. Additionally, candidates will be expected to consistently demonstrate reliability and professionalism. Our ideal candidate will have: Availability to work a flexible schedule throughout the summer outdoor pool season, including evenings and weekends Customer service-related experience Cash handling experience, including the use of a point-of-sale (POS) system (using a cash register, taking care of transactions) and/or recreation-related experience Experience answering phones An enthusiasm to work with a diverse group of customers, including youth Required Minimum Qualifications Education requirement: None Experience Requirement: None Education/Experience Equivalency: None Licensure/Certifications: Must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application.
