About The Position

The City of Ridgefield is seeking a reliable and motivated Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Worker to support our Public Works department during the busy season (up to 6 months). This temporary position offers hands-on experience in maintaining and improving our public spaces and infrastructure. Work in this role includes maintaining City parks and sidewalks, as well as landscaping of other City owned properties. The Parks Seasonal Maintenance Worker position follows a schedule of four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday.

Requirements

  • A strong work ethic and ability to perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and follow instructions.
  • Any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the level of required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with landscaping, grounds maintenance, or similar field work is a plus.
  • Work Experience with a background in parks maintenance, landscaping or stormwater maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • General grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, vegetation control, and site cleanup.
  • Invasive weed removal, site restoration, and planting of native vegetation.
  • Safe and effective use of both motorized and manual equipment, such as mowers, light trucks, tractors, power tools, and hand tools.
