About The Position

We are looking for certified lifeguards to join our team at The Vineyards Apartments located at Butler Hill and I-tt. The pool hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. (closed on Mondays and during times of inclement weather) from May 23rd through September 7th. We offer somewhat of a flexible schedule, ideally with shifts ranging from 4 to 8 hours each day, staffing two lifeguards or a lifeguard and a pool attendant to be present during the pool hours each day. Core responsibilities are: Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled hours Regularly treat the pool with the correct amount of chemicals Remains at the pool and closely monitors activities, identifying any safety issues; insures pool rules and guidelines are being followed Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions Closely monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safe Maintain a clean pool environment: Folds and stores chairs and umbrellas at sundown Picks up rubbish in the pool area May participate in draining, cleaning, and refilling the pool and changing pool filters. Requirements Education and/or Experience Must be lifeguard certified or become certified (Midwest Pool Mgmt or YMCA offer certification) General first aid is a plus One to three years of experience in a lifeguard position and/or pool maintenance is a plus Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents and other employees of the organization. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
