About The Position

Devereux is hiring a seasonal lifeguard to work evenings and weekends! As a Lifeguard you will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. We offer an environment that is supportive, educational and clinically focused. Every day as a Seasonal Lifeguard you will: Provide supervision of swimming recreation programming for students Provide quality direction and supervision, evaluation, training and support of staff, visitors and guest involved in pool activities Ensure the students are safe, healthy, and living in a clean environment. You will be offered: Pay-rat: $20.00 per hour (flat rate) Schedule: Availability to work "after-school" hours during the week (4pm-8pm) Must be able to work at least 1 day (Saturday or Sunday) every weekend from 10am to 6pm June - mid/end of September Paid Training & Professional Development ASCEND - Career Accelerator Program The School for Integrated Learning focuses on building upon the unique strengths of each student. Our school strives to offer a breadth of opportunities for students to express themselves and find personal levels of accomplishment through activities such as: Special Olympics, talent shows and school dances, student government, peer mentoring, service learning, community gardening, and employment education, both in the classroom and in the community. The goal of the School for Integrated Learning is to create individualized educational opportunities that enable each student to live as a positive, healthy and socially-connected individual in his or her community. The School for Integrated Learning is licensed to serve students in grades K-12 who have been identified with the following primary disabilities: behavioral and cognitive differences, autism, intellectual disabilities and speech and language impairments. The core curriculum has been aligned with the Pennsylvania Core Standards, as well as the curricula of our partner school districts. This innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed. The goal of the curriculum is to provide students with learning experiences that foster increased engagement and success through differentiated instruction, evidence-based instructional strategies, and rigorous learning expectations. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals. A multi-disciplinary team, including the individual’s parent(s) or guardian, regularly reviews the plan to discuss challenges, progress and adjustments to goals as appropriate. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma, some college preferred
  • Experience: One year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with special needs preferred.
  • Requirements: Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must have an active American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR certification.
