About The Position

The Seasonal Lifeguard I position is for the Aquatics Summer Program at the N. Lauderdale Boys & Girls Clubs. This role involves lifeguarding and teaching swim classes to children aged 6 to 18. The schedule varies between summer hours (8 am-4:30 pm) and non-summer hours (3:00 pm-7:00 pm), with potential for additional Swim Central classes from 9:00 am-1:00 pm. It is a part-time, temporary position requiring a strong commitment to safety, effective communication with staff, students, and parents, and the ability to be a positive role model. The role also includes assisting in training new swim teachers and lifeguards. COVID-19 precautions, including temperature screenings and sanitizing procedures, are in place.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Swim Instructor
  • Certified Lifeguard with current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • At least 2 years of experience as an instructor or lifeguard
  • Must demonstrate safety as the highest priority
  • Must have the ability to teach large volumes of children with ages ranging from 6 to 18
  • Must be able to command control of classes
  • Must be able to organize swim class schedules
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be able to assist in training new swim teachers and lifeguards
  • Must be able to teach front stroke, back stroke, breast stroke, butterfly, and treading water
  • Must be able to communicate well with staff, students, and parents
  • Must be a good role model for other staff members and the students
  • Must embrace the Boys & Girls Club motto: “Great Futures Start Here.”
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
  • 2 years Water Safety Instructor experience (Required)
  • 2 years Lifeguard experience (Required)

Responsibilities
