General Program Worker Summary: This position will support the operational aspects of Camping Services as well as represent Young Life and the Camping department in a Christ-centered, relational and professional manner. Job Specific Working Conditions: This position is for the spring and summer seasons at Rockbridge. The primary goals for this position are to work alongside the Landscape Superintendent in preparation for the summer camping season and to co-lead the spring Work Week volunteers and summer Landscape Interns and Outdoor Crews. Some examples of the responsibilities expected of this position include but are not limited to: • Operating and maintaining landscape vehicles and equipment • Managing volunteers through work projects • Maintaining flowers, shrubs, trees and turf • Leading and exemplifying spiritual disciplines for the volunteers • Managing trash throughout the property • Removing distractions from the camper experience such as weeds and wildlife Notes: Young Life is a relational ministry. Staff must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff. Responding to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner is important. All staff members are expected to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community and be able to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camp. Young Life camps facilitate leader-centered ministry in the lives of kids and provide extraordinary environments where kids can encounter Jesus and grow in their faith. The entire Young Life camping experience is a strategy for supporting the mission ,vision, values and methods of ministry that we uphold.
