About The Position
Located in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, we are a mid-sized winery specializing in the production of premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from some of the premier vineyard sites in Oregon. POSITION DESCRIPTION Under the general direction of the Enologist, the Laboratory Technician will perform routine juice and wine analysis, including Brix, pH, TA, NH3, PAN, RS, ML, AC, Alcohol, Free & Total SO2. This position requires the ability to follow directions safely, accurately, and in a timely manner.
Requirements
- This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime and varying schedules from mid August until the end of December.
- The successful applicant must provide their own transportation.
Nice To Haves
- A science degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related science field with previous lab experience is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience with the Y15 autoanalyzer is a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Analyze samples in a timely manner via the Y15, auto titrator & DMA
- Follow laboratory Standard Operating Procedures and safety protocols
- Record results in proper systems (LIMS)
- Maintain wine analysis in Winemaker’s database (BIMS)
- Maintain cellar work orders in Winemakers database (BIMS)
- Maintain harvest schedules in Winemakers database (BIMS)
- Monitor tank and barrel fermentations daily
- Collect representative samples from tanks and barrels
- Assist in bottling prep and QC
- Participate in lab general housekeeping
- Communicate effectively with supervisor and other staff
