Requirements

  • Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:
  • Minimum of 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Reliable transportation to attend work.
  •  A warm and friendly personality and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, children, and supervisors.
  •  Desire to work in a camp setting and be able to accept guidance and supervision from the Food Service Director.
  •  Enthusiasm, patience, positive attitude, and flexibility are key.
  • Breadth of knowledge about cooking and preparing meals.
  • A high level of organization, flexibility, and ability to handle difficult situations effectively and possess values relative to the YMCA mission.
  • Positive, service-oriented attitude serving diverse groups of people regarding age, abilities, ethnicity, gender, race, economic status, religion, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate: Join a welcoming camp team that feels like family and works together to create excellent customer service for all camp guests.
  • Connect: Create meaningful relationships with guests and assist them with quality meals and snacks.
  • Create: Develop a better understanding of food preparation and meal services.
