About The Position

As a Seasonal Housekeeper, you are the backbone of the guest experience at the "Birthplace of the Winds." You will work independently in a remote, rugged setting to ensure every guest feels at home in the middle of the Bering Sea.

  • Remote Mindset : Comfortable living and working in a highly isolated community with limited cell service and expensive local amenities.
  • Independence: Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and manage a daily "roster" of tasks efficiently.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with guests, researchers, and birdwatchers from around the world.
  • Clearance: Ability to pass a drug screen and a background check.
  • One (1) year of related experience, developing knowledge of processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with tools and techniques.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Alaska driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Unit Turnover: Perform full cleans of townhouse units between guest stays, including stripping/making beds, sanitizing bathrooms, and deep-cleaning kitchens.
  • Availability Note: This role requires mandatory attendance on peak operational days (Wednesday and Saturday) to coordinate with flight/delivery schedules.
  • Linen Management : Operate on-site laundry facilities to wash, dry, fold, and restock linens and towels or utilize laundry unit with additional machines and stock.
  • Supply Inventory: Monitor and restock guest amenities (coffee, toiletries) and cleaning supplies, reporting shortages to the Hotel Manager.
  • Detailed Cleaning : Dust furniture, clean windows (inside/out), vacuum all carpets, and mop hard floors to maintain high standards despite the island’s windy/dusty conditions.
  • Maintenance Reporting: Identify and report any functional issues—such as heating, plumbing, or structural damage—to the maintenance team immediately.
  • Waste Management : Collect and properly dispose of trash and recycling from units to prevent attracting local wildlife.
  • Maintenance Duties: Depending on weather and workload, some lawn maintenance, minimal construction, and guest service may be required.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Benefits

  • Housing & Transport: Employer-provided housing and access to a company vehicle for work duties are included.
  • WIFI.
  • Food/Cargo Stipend.
  • Adventure: Unparalleled access to world-class birdwatching, caribou hunting, beaches, hiking and WWII historical sites during your off-hours.
  • Community: Be part of a small, dedicated team helping to grow an emerging travel destination.
