About The Position

The Anoka County Transportation division’s vision to enhance and protect life by providing safe roads and eliminating traffic congestion. The department has an immediate opening for a Seasonal Highway Maintenance Worker. This position performs a variety of duties, including assisting with the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices. Key responsibilities include supporting the setup, upkeep, and organization of traffic control signage and related equipment in a safe, efficient, and orderly manner. This is a seasonal, non-exempt, on-site position. Interviews will take place as applications are received for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the time of hire.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
  • Successfully pass criminal history and driver’s license background check.

Responsibilities

  • Perform labor work on roadways including paving, patching, and shouldering.
  • Maintenance and installation of guardrails, catch basins, and manholes.
  • Perform tree trimming throughout the Anoka County Highway system.
  • Flagging duties for roadway maintenance work zones which can include paving, patching, shouldering, and culvert installation duties.
  • Remove debris, trash, and other roadside hazards throughout the Anoka County Highway system.
  • Perform routine facility maintenance such as cleaning and washing trucks and other large equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
