About The Position

Guest services team members play an integral role in the growth of the institution, as they are the initial point of contact for all visitors. They are responsible for recognizing and engaging each individual as they seek to strengthen relationships and support of the museum. Guest services staff support the mission of the institution and are comfortable soliciting support through membership and Annual Fund. Team members must be self-motivated, enthusiastic individuals whom provide the highest quality of customer service to every guest. ABOUT THE MINT MUSEUM As the oldest art museum in North Carolina, with one of the largest collections in the Southeast, The Mint Museum offers its visitors inspiring and transformative experiences through art from around the world via innovative collections, groundbreaking exhibitions, and riveting educational programs. The Mint Museum is a non-profit, visual arts institution comprising two dynamic facilities: Mint Museum Uptown and Mint Museum Randolph. Located in what was the original branch of the United States Mint, Mint Museum Randolph opened in 1936 in Charlotte’s Eastover neighborhood as the state’s first art museum. Today, in a beautiful park setting, intimate galleries invite visitors to engage with the art of the ancient Americas, ceramics and decorative arts, fashion, European art, and African art, among other collections. Requirements

Basic computer skills required, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and basic database functionality.
Knowledge of fundraising fundamentals, best practices and donor software such as Altru or Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
A self-starter who is positive, people-oriented, and welcoming.
Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, stay organized, and up-to-date with museum events and exhibitions.
Flexibility to work at both locations, and offsite on occasion.
Able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
Occasional nights and weekends are required.
Must be able to lift boxes of 25 lbs. in weight.

Self-motivated, well organized, detail oriented, and able to effectively work independently and with a team.
Exceptional ability to build/maintain relationships and foster collaboration with staff, external donors, partners, Board, and volunteers.
Experience in a museum setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

Welcome guests in a friendly & positive manner
Drive membership sales and Annual Fund donations as a part of the Advancement & Communications team, ensuring Guest Services meets its goal in both areas
Operate cash drawer and ensure accuracy of daily deposits
Address guest needs and concerns in a proactive manner, ensuring quick resolution
Demonstrate awareness of, and experience with, numerous Outlook Calendars across two locations
Responsible for accurate database entry
Monitor cleanliness in all public spaces of the museum
Organize and operate coat check, as needed
Oversee miscellaneous projects, as assigned
Respond to online, phone, and in person requests
Support after hour events, when appropriate
