About The Position

Make your summer count working outdoors with Highlands Ranch Metro District as a Seasonal Forestry Technician, supporting tree care, landscaping, and grounds maintenance throughout the community.

Requirements

• Age 18+
• Reliable, motivated, and a great team player
• Excited to work outdoors and learn new skills
• Able to pass a background and motor vehicle check
• Two (2) years of field experience in the tree care industry or educational field of study.
• Work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Understand, follow, and transmit written and verbal instructions.
• Establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
• Represent the District in a professional manner, exemplifying integrity and excellence always.
• Maintain a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Watering newly planted trees using a water tank truck.
• Assist staff with tree pruning, tree removal, stump grinding, tree planting, plant health care, tree inventory, general landscaping and grounds maintenance
• Assist with all aspects of municipal urban tree care maintenance.
• Participate in special events and assist as needed with other sections within the Park, Recreation and Open Space Department.
• Work with other divisions within the department as needed and assigned.
