About the Department of Natural Resources (DNR): The Indiana Department of Natural Resources protects, enhances, preserves, and wisely uses natural, cultural, and recreational resources for the benefit of Indiana's citizens through professional leadership, management, and education. Role Overview: Incumbent serves as the Seasonal Finance Assistant for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. The incumbent is responsible for aiding Finance staff members with day-to-day processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of procedures used in finance processes.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computers and applications, specifically the PeopleSoft Financials application.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to work under pressure.
  • Ability to practice diplomacy, tact, and courtesy.
  • Ability to research and resolve problems.
  • Ability to prioritize a variety of projects and functions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Fiscal Analysts with the documentation of policies and procedures throughout the division, including procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting, and grant management.
  • Research, develop, prepare, and analyze a variety of state and federal financial reports as assigned by management.
  • Run PeopleSoft reports and provide information to the Finance team.
  • Pull data from the state's PeopleSoft Financial Management System and organize it to meet the audit requests received by the agency.
  • Review documents for completeness, compliance, and accuracy and perform adjustments to data within systems and portals.
  • Enter data into PeopleSoft.
  • Verify data within the system.
