About The Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Pre-plant field preparation such as measuring, marking, and setting up trial locations. Maintenance and data collection of Tech Service Trials, including but not limited to field scouting and rouging. Harvesting activities which include the operation and maintenance of weigh wagons, combines, GPS units and hand harvesting equipment in addition to the sorting, cleaning’ and conditioning of seed samples post-harvest. Assist with management of test plots in all aspects of rice production. Assist with the taking of pre-harvest notes associated with hybrid rice yield test plots. Assist with mechanical and hand harvest of rice samples. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• The successful candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Language Ability: Ability to read, write, and speak English. Acceptable oral and written communication skills.
• Math Ability : Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic math.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
• Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to lift 50-pound bag of seed.

• College students working towards a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
