As an EMT, you are an integral part of the summer public safety team at Crane Beach. Reporting to the EMT Supervisor, you will work as the lone EMT, staffing a First Aid Station treating walk-in patients, and responding to emergencies on the beach or elsewhere on the Crane Estate property. You are in charge of the scene, coordinating first aid/rescue efforts with lifeguards and rangers, as well as responding outside agencies, such as police, fire, and ambulance. On busy weekends and holidays, a second EMT may also be on duty. When you are not providing medical care, you will have other duties and responsibilities including leadership of the First Aid Office, supply inventory, and radio dispatching for summer staff. This is a seasonal, non-exempt position [8-24hours/week] reporting directly to the EMT Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts EMT Basic EMT certification or higher.
  • Maintain a current CPR Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • Must be current on all training required by Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services. (Must provide documentation for our records).
  • Experience in the field as an EMT and ability to lead response in emergency situations as the only licensed EMT on property.
  • Must be able to work with a varied clientele.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to meet Trustees Driving Policy requirements and operate TTOR vehicles.
  • Background check required.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends is required.
  • Variable outdoor weather conditions.
  • Able to lift 125 pounds with assistance and carry up and down two flights of stairs.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
  • A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees’ driving policy.
  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.

Responsibilities

  • Check all equipment at the beginning of each shift. This includes but not limited to the following: AED, first aid bag, oxygen equipment, extrication gear, First Aid station treatment cart and cabinet.
  • While not rendering medical aid the EMT is responsible for communications; this includes monitoring radio communication to dispatch rangers, lifeguards and staff where necessary.
  • Maintain daily logbook.
  • Operate transport vehicles as needed: pick-up truck, ATVs and UTVs
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
