Seasonal Driver
About The Position
PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Operations, the Nutrition Services Truck driver will manage the products, vehicles, and routes assigned to them. Every day the driver is expected to execute the loading and unloading of all trucks in an efficient and accurate manner. Drivers are then expected to run their assigned route to include unloading product in designated areas. The driver is required to conduct basic vehicle checks and report any maintenance issues. This position requires substantial physical effort as well as the usage of high-level customer service and communication skills.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have valid Driver’s License, CDL preferred.
- Must be able to perform repeated manual lifting of heavy items over 50 pounds and be skilled in the usage of 2-wheel dollies.
- Ability to manage frequent stops and navigate local area with ease
- Ability to drive safely and work efficiently during inclement weather conditions
- Minimum of 6 months commercial driving experience or 3 months of food service delivery experience
- Proficient in the usage of smartphones and navigation apps
- Able to pass a MVR
Nice To Haves
- Previous customer service experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Drive and deliver orders to sites within a specific time frame using 16- and 26-foot refrigerated box trucks with hydraulic liftgates
- Unload product from truck in designated areas according to customer directions
- Ensure delivery order is accurate and all paperwork has been completed and collected
- Maintain all posted TN Dept. of Transportation Laws
- All other duties as assigned, including non-driving tasks within the warehouse and production facility
