This Seasonal Construction/Maintenance Technician position at Sequoyah State Park involves performing a variety of manual labor, general repair duties, and grounds maintenance. Key tasks include cutting grass, weeds, trees, and brush, as well as cleaning culverts, drains, and ditches. The role requires moving, loading, and unloading various materials, supplies, and equipment, such as sand, lumber, asphalt, and cement. Occasionally, the technician may operate a forklift or tractor. A significant part of the job involves assisting skilled craft workers like machinists, carpenters, plumbers, masons, electricians, or welders. This assistance includes carrying materials and tools, picking up supplies from vendors, and performing preparatory tasks such as mixing concrete or mortar, digging holes, and tearing out walls. Additional responsibilities cover general park upkeep, including digging post holes and ditches, mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, raking grass and trash, sweeping walks, and cleaning restrooms. The technician will also be involved in chipping, scaling, cleaning, and scraping ironwork, assisting with scaffold setup and movement, and performing custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, and buffering floors, and picking up trash.
