About The Position

Seasonal Class A CDL Driver Company Overview: Sam Moore Furniture/HF Custom , a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation, is currently recruiting a Part-time seasonal Class A CDL Driver to join our team based in Bedford, VA. Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 100th year of business, is a designer, marketer and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality and contract markets. Position Overview: We are seeking a Class A CDL Driver who will be responsible for making trips within Virginia and North Carolina to pick up and deliver our finely crafted furniture.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and commitment to compliance.
  • Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. comfortably.
  • Excellent route management and logistical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Class A CDL truck for the transportation of furniture within Virginia and North Carolina.
  • Plan and manage routes to ensure timely and efficient delivery and pick-up of furniture.
  • Adjust routes as necessary to accommodate traffic, weather, or delivery changes.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the truck to ensure it meets all safety and operational standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and report any mechanical issues.
  • Assist with loading and unloading furniture, ensuring items are handled with care to prevent damage.
  • Secure loads properly to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date driving logs and records as required by law.
  • Interact professionally with all employees/vendors during pick-up and delivery.
  • Maintain clear and regular communication with dispatchers and supervisors.
  • Report any delays, accidents, or other issues promptly.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for each trip, including delivery receipts, inspection reports, and logbooks.
  • Work collaboratively with warehouse and logistics teams to coordinate schedules and deliveries.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
