About The Position

Lake Compounce is seeking Entertainment Hosts who will bring our character program to life. Our Character Performers and their attendants will greet our guests, pose for photographs, and help make memorable moments for our guests. Step into the role of animated characters, donning various body/fur-suit costumes. Your primary duty will be to greet, meet, and entertain our park guests with vibrant energy and contagious enthusiasm. See below for Audition Details. You will receive more information during the interview process. We are currently looking for a: Lake Compounce - Seasonal Character Performer (Costumed Characters) Roles & Responsibilities: Audition Dates: March 27th, 4:00PM-7:00PM March 28th, 11:00AM - 2:00PM Costume Characters and Attendants Seeking seasonal hourly hosts to perform as various costume characters for our different seasons. Their main job would consist of bringing our loveable characters to life and learning how to perform as a character attendant to keep our characters safe. These performers will also be trained on how to run AV for our children’s shows and may also be cast as a Show Host if desired. Character parameters: Kyle – Everyone's best crocodile friend! Must be 5’2-5’5, perfect height would be 5’4 with a small to medium build. Ryder – Our high energy teenaged Tiger! Must be 5’8-5’10, with a slim build. Spookley – The lovable Square Pumpkin who visits our park seasonally. Must be 5’2-5’5, any build. Daniel Tiger – A creative, sweet, and curious 4-year old. Only appears during special events. Must be 5’6-5’8 with a medium build. Katerina Kitty – An energetic 4-year old who is always doing ballet and likes to be the star of the show. Only appears during special events. Must be 5’4-5’7 with a small build. ALL MUST BE GOOD WITH CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. What to bring: Updated performance resume Comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes for movement activities Water Show Hosts Seeking seasonal hourly hosts to perform as Show Hosts for interactive family shows. These hosts would be hired as hourly employees. Their main job would consist of hosting Dance Parties and seasonal special events. These performers will also be trained as Character Attendants and may be additionally cast as a Character Performer. Requirements: Will be asked to attend the dance call to learn simple Choreography May be asked to read from sides following the dance call Looking for multifaceted performers Looking for dynamic personalities If you have any special skills, we would love to see them Must be comfortable talking on a microphone in front of large crowds What to bring: Recent Headshot if available Updated performance resume Comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes for movement Water Uniforms and costumes will be provided

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age to comply with Lake Compounce Child Labor Laws
• Must successfully pass an audition and/or character training for this role
• Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work 20+ hours per week, when needed
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work for your scheduled shift
• Must comply with all grooming standards, uniform and/or costume requirements
• Height should be between 5’5” and 5’10”
• Ability to immerse in role and remain in character throughout the performance
• Must possess strong cardio endurance, physical story-telling abilities, and performance energy
• Must be playful, outgoing, friendly, and convey a positive, guest-centric attitude
• Must possess effective verbal and non-verbal acting and communication skills
• Ability to follow direction, multi-task, and work as part of a fast-paced team
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday
• Ability to wear assigned costume for extended periods of time
• Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
• Ability to perform in costumes that may have limited sight lines
• Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 40 pounds or more
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Entertain Park guests by creating fun and immersive character performances
• Meet and greet with all guests in a fun, memorable manner
• Be prepared and in costume on time for all scheduled character meet & greets
• Maintain the illusion of being the character you are representing through physical movement and interactions with guests
• Follow all protocols of the park’s character training.
• Execute performances as scripted by the park
• Communicate any safety concerns related to the costume and/or the environment you are performing, in a timely manner
• Be respectful of the costume – return to storage properly, maintain appearance, spot clean as needed in accordance with training
• Report costume maintenance needs in a timely manner
• Assist in costume maintenance and repair
• Be responsible for personal hygiene and under layers to maintain a shared costume
• All other duties assigned by leadership
• Escort and assist costumed characters around the park or off property special functions/events
• Proactive engagement with guests to encourage participation in planned event and activities
• Facilitate a variety of activities for diverse age groups
• Ability to adapt an activity for all abilities levels

• Lead predesigned activities for guests
• Proactively assist in the upkeep and maintenance of a safe, clean, and organized work environment
• Proactive engagement with guests to encourage participation in planned events and/or activities on-site
• Maintain and keep organization of stock for activity materials
• Understand, convey and comply with safety rules and regulations related to equipment, art supplies and chemicals
• Enforce Park property policies and procedures
• Project a consistently positive and friendly attitude for our guests
