About The Position

Directors further the camp mission by designing and delivering program activities and events that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ ages and abilities. They provide the highest quality experience for campers by assisting in managing the overall camp operation, including supervising, mentoring, and supporting staff. Essential job functions of the Director position include: Give support and direction to counselors, specialists, and campers in your program area throughout the day to foster an inclusive, safe, and fun experience. Supervise and evaluate Program Specialists and Counselors to develop and implement camp program activities. Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas. Develop and implement schedules and records for all areas of camp program and facilities. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior. Create an inclusive environment that ensures all campers feel supported and affirmed as they experience camp with us. Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures. Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship. Requirements

  • Must be First Aid/CPR certified or be able to obtain this certification (GSRV can assist with the certification process).
  • Must have current certifications related to the program area or documented training and experience.
  • Ability to interact well with all age levels and understand the development needs of youth.
  • Experience at a summer camp is required.
  • Ability to conduct all activities with a high degree of cultural competency.

Nice To Haves

  • 21 years or older by the start of camp season.
  • It is strongly preferred that candidates are willing to live on-site in GSRV assigned housing and comply with conditions of GSRV housing agreement. This includes the ability to live in the rustic, communal setting of summer camp with campers and staff of all ages. However, those who wish to commute to camp may still be considered.
  • Ability to complete the Girl Scouts safe driving program, pass an MVR background check and become qualified to drive camp vehicles.
