About The Position

Starting pay for this position - $16.20 per hour. Plans, develops, and implements activities for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a camp setting; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision of Camp Ann Director.

Requirements

Graduated from High School or GED
Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Must be able to effectively lead groups in recreational and leisure activities
Must be able to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationship with other employees and the public
Ability to drive 15- passenger van
Valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

Previous work experience in recreation and parks setting, education system, or direct client care support.

Responsibilities

Serves as a program counselor and participates in program development
Performs a variety of duties in leading activities and programs of a summer day camp for teens and adults with disabilities
Monitors and evaluates daily progress of campers
Prepares camp area with adaptive equipment for daily operation, monitors activities, facilities and equipment for safety and feasibility
Transports campers to activity sites
Enforces camp policies and safety rules and regulations
Physically assists campers with personal needs including feeding, toileting, changing clothes, etc.
Cleans work and program areas as needed during the day and upon conclusion of activities
Prepares lists of materials and equipment needed for camp activities
Makes preparation of area for participants' lunches and snacks
Maintains daily communication with Camp Directors
Enforces that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.
