About The Position

Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable seasonal Cabinkeeper for the Skagit Valley Postcard Cabins in Mount Vernon, WA. The purpose of this role is to clean and prepare cabins and common areas by meeting established standards of cleanliness and propriety to assure guest satisfaction and maximize revenues. The Cabinkeeper is expected to provide warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance to guests.

Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products and operation of standard cleaning equipment.
  • Must have vision ability to see minute debris and dirt in poorly lit areas, and to read written instructions and computer print-outs.
  • Must have upper body strength to lift up to 50lbs. continually throughout an 8 hour shift.
  • Must have finger, hand and upper body dexterity to push, pull and move levers, equipment and furniture throughout 8 hour shift.
  • Must be able to work with arms raised above head throughout an 8 hour shift.
  • Must be able to maneuver fully loaded cleaning bin weighing up to 20lbs. in and out of vehicle and cabins during the entire work day.
  • Requires use of a reliable personal vehicle with active insurance.
  • Being passionate about people and service.
  • Strong communication skills are essential when interacting with guests and employees.
  • Reading and writing abilities are often used when completing paperwork, logging issues/complaints/requests/ information updates, etc.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities are often used.
  • Have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays, 5-8 shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for your shift by loading your personal vehicle with cleaning kits, cleaning equipment, welcome materials, and linen bags.
  • Ensure every cabin is perfectly staged for every guest by cleaning and staging the interior of the cabin (bathroom, kitchen, dining, and bed area), cleaning and staging the exterior of the cabin (picnic table and fire pit area), and placing welcome items/provisions.
  • Solve problems proactively in an efficient, effective, and professional manner.
  • End your shift by unloading cleaning kits, cleaning equipment, welcome materials, and linen bags; restock your cleaning supplies at the end of each day.
  • Operate with integrity and sound judgment, always respect your team and our guests, and hold yourself accountable.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and company values.
  • Clean and wipe windows, doors, walls, closets and fixtures in rooms, public areas and hallways, often using ladders or stools to clean hard to reach areas, in order to maintain a clean, presentable and attractive facility at all times.
  • Wash shower walls and tub, clean toilet(s) and stall walls if applicable, wipe exposed pipes, clean mirrors, sink(s) and walls in order to have a clean and sanitary cabin.
  • Replace towels, soaps and all cabin amenities and restock literature that has been removed by previous guest or is soiled and torn to ensure adequate supply for arriving guests.
  • Wash all hard floor areas (linoleum, tile, etc.) by hand to remove dirt and soiled areas.
  • Dust and polish all furniture, fixtures and wall hangings including using a duster to reach vents and ceiling corners to remove dust and cobwebs.
  • Strip bed of all linen and remake with fresh linen, checking bedspread, blankets and bed pads for cleanliness, replacing if soiled. Lift mattresses to check for soil between mattresses and under bed.
  • Check cabinets for cleanliness, wiping closet door, handle and overhead shelves and restocking the cabin supplies.
  • Vacuum cabin and public areas, operating vacuums weighing up to 25lbs., and lifting/moving heavy furniture in order to vacuum entire area of cabin including underneath furniture and hard to reach areas.
  • Inspect all door and window locks to ensure they are in working order and immediately alert management to an unsecured or unsafe situation for the safety of guests and employees.
  • Inspect all cabin equipment (lights/lamps, faucets, radios) to ensure proper working order and immediately report all room status and room maintenance deficiencies, in writing, to their supervisor for prompt repair/resolution.
  • Secure and maintain custody of equipment and supplies at all times in order to protect and preserve Outpost property.
  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
  • Assist with laundry by retrieving soiled linen, sorting laundry into correct size loads, utilizing industrial washers, dryers and pressers, folding and distributing the cleaned linen to storage accordingly.
  • Clean cabin pad areas: wiping down all furniture and fixtures, picking up garbage and cleaning cabin doors and windows, cleaning grills and fire pits, restocking wood, etc.
  • Assist other employees and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and Outpost.
