About The Position

East Cherry Creek Valley Water and Sanitation District (ECCV) has been sustaining our community by providing safe and reliable water since 1962. Sourced from the South Platte River and non-tributary aquifers, ECCV distributes water to approximately 60,000 customers in the eastern portions of the City of Centennial and unincorporated Arapahoe County. The Seasonal Collections & Distribution Water Technician assists in the day-to-day activities of water operations, including valve exercising, hydrant flushing, repairs, painting hydrants, etc. Work is performed Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week (the standard schedule is 7:00am – 3:30pm with a 30-minute lunch). This position is eligible for employee-only medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, as well as ECCV paid holidays.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to safely operate vehicles and equipment, read, record, and interpret information.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees and the public.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, have a safe driving record, and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Exercises water valves (valve box located in the ground) in residential areas using a valve key and crowbar to remove lid to access water valve.
  • Clean out valve boxes with a vacuum trailer.
  • Preps and paint fire hydrants using wire brush, paint brush, paint sprayer and generator.
  • Clean well houses and booster pump stations.
  • Drives district vehicles equipped with safety lights.
  • Enters work data into asset management software.
  • Assist with flushing fire hydrants.
  • Assist facilities/maintenance staff.
  • Assist operations staff.
  • Miscellaneous manual labor.
