Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE) is a nonprofit law firm established over 50 years ago to ensure that the most vulnerable people in our communities have the same access to justice as people that can afford to retain an attorney. About the Position Outreach Workers are a vital part of our outreach team, helping us reach as many agricultural workers as possible during the busiest time of year across Ohio. Each year, more than 60,000 agricultural workers and their family members work in Ohio. They are involved in harvesting various crops, including cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, radishes, and peppers. Additionally, they work in packing sheds, grading stations, nurseries, greenhouses, food processing plants, and animal production facilities. Agricultural workers often face legal challenges due to violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, and other federal and state protective statutes. They may also encounter issues related to taxes, immigration, environmental hazards, sexual harassment, government benefits, housing, domestic violence, civil rights, education, and more.
