Job Summary: The Athletic Official is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the sport by enforcing rules, ensuring fair play, and promoting a positive and respectful environment. This role also serves as a Pickleball Ambassador, helping to facilitate matches while providing exceptional customer service and upholding the standards of Milwaukee County Parks. This is a part time position.

Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid United States Driver’s License.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of knowledge in Softball, Kickball, or Pickleball.
  • Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 100% of the time in this role.
  • NOTE: This original application is open to permanent residents of the United States. Appointee must establish residency in the state of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during incumbency. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Officials will referee games to the best of their ability by maintaining standards, penalizing and diffusing behavior, and ensuring that specified rules are enforced by using the appropriate signals and mechanics. Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Communicate and report any problems or concerns with the County Parks Sports Office. Report scores of games (on a daily basis) and turn in game score sheets (on a weekly basis).
  • Officials must be able to maintain control of participants, fans, and crowds.
