About The Position

Summer Camp Assistant Site Director We're searching for someone with previous camp experience who wants to take the next step in their camp career and assist our site directors in setting our day camp counselors up for success. As Assistant Site Director you will liaison with day camp counselors and other staff to ensure that safe and quality programming is being provided and that opportunities for continued learning and mentorship are available to day camp staff. Requirements

• Age: 21+
• Experience working with children (required) and supervising staff (preferred)
• CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications
• Valid driver's license (eligible to drive camp vehicles after training)
• Must be able to move actively throughout camp, supervise children outdoors, and maintain awareness in a dynamic environment.
• Employment at Go West Camps in contingent on clear State and Federal background checks and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise staff and campers in all aspects of daily camp life at assigned homebase site.
• Partner with Site Director, Unit Leaders, Bus Drivers, Program Supervisors, and Counselors to deliver high-quality, engaging programming.
• Communicate regularly with Camp Staff and Site Director to provide updates, feedback, and solutions.
• Occasionally step into a Counselor role to ensure adequate staffing per licensing requirements.
• Support staff development through coaching, evaluation, and training.
• Partner with Site Director to manage daily logistics - from check-in and check-out to setup, cleanup, and activity flow.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming camp environment.
• Lead by example in creating a respectful, inclusive, and fun community.
• Work with Site Director to build and master skills around fostering positive relationships with parents, including communication around camper experiences and behaviors.
