Location: Altru Hospital 1200 South Columbia Road Grand Forks, ND 58201 Pay Range: $18.82 - $28.23 Summary: The Equipment Operator is responsible for maintaining safe conditions on the Altru campus. This position operates various machinery, removes snow, mows grass, sweeps streets, and edges sidewalks. The Equipment Operator is a part of a team committed to providing world-class facilities. Essential Job Functions: Job Description Interacts and works cooperatively with customers and Altru staff. Responds to staff/visitors in a courteous manner. Provides work direction and training to temporary, seasonal groundskeepers. Operates snow removal equipment, including pickup trucks with front plows, sand truck, 950B pay loader, skid steer, tractor with broom, snow hauling trucks, etc. Operates and maintains power-mowing equipment to cut grass, edge walks, flower beds, curbs, etc. Performs landscape work including planting flowers and trees. Applies fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides to trees, shrubs, and lawn. Maintains and repairs irrigation equipment. Provides custodial services of parking lots, including campus pavement and grounds area. Inspects the Altru campus site as conditions require for slippery or unsightly sidewalks, roadways, parking lots and entrances and disburses sand as needed. Cleans storm drains of debris. Performs maintenance and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Maintains trucks, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner. Responsible for inventory control of grounds, parts, and supplies. Advises Supervisor of seasonal needs for ordering and major repairs on equipment. Initiates parts requisition form with all necessary information needed for ordering of supplies following department procedures as needed. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
