About The Position

The Seamstress is responsible to alter and tailor uniforms to fit individual employees. Provide support to the wardrobe department to include: perform all tasks involved in the processing of uniforms inbound and out bound. Receiving, scanning, auditing, inspecting, and putting away garments from the cleaners, as well as shoes, and accessories. All duties are to be performed within guidelines of the Saracen Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older upon employment
  • High school diploma or its equivalency preferred.
  • Two years of sewing and alternations work using industrial sewing machines, blind hemmer and serger required.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Applicants must be able to substantiate a safe driving record within the parameters acceptable to our liability insurance carrier.  
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
  • Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
  • Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience drafting patterns for making clothes and working on an embroidery machine preferred.  Must be willing and able to learn pattern drafting and machine embroidery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work assigned by department supervisor.
  • Alterations to uniforms to include: lengthen or shorten the hems on pants and jacket/shirt sleeves, relocate buttons, press or iron as required
  • Repairs to uniforms to include: replace buttons on coats, vests and shirts, etc.; replace waist adjuster on pants, repair rips, holes, zipper repair, etc.
  • Work with other departments to assure a smooth transition for all new employees in receiving their uniforms.
  • Mark, measure, embroider and alter uniforms as needed/required according to the employee’s measurements.
  • Draft patter to fit employees when needed.
  • File employee information cards.
  • Clean and perform minimal repair work on sewing equipment as needed.
  • Assist in Scanning  and bagging garments to be sent to cleaners
  • Assist in Receiving, auditing, and inspecting of garments form cleaners
  • Restock garments returned from cleaners as well as accessories for re-use
  • Assist in moving and carrying boxes of uniforms for delivery and storage as needed.
  • Using a personal computer, delete non useable garments, send/receive dry cleaning and enter data for reports.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Provides exceptional service to all employees and communicates in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times. Maintains a professional work environment with supervisors and staff.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Attend all necessary training meetings.
  • Assist in other projects, as directed.
