The Seamstress / Uniform Attendant is responsible for overseeing the appearance and functionality of the uniform room. This position requires the ability and knowledge to mend and alter garments according to staff and/or guest needs. Key tasks include ensuring the sewing machine is in good working order, replacing components like buttons, zippers, pockets, and linings, and adding padding and shaping materials to garments. The role also involves modifying garment styles based on precise specifications, accurately measuring for proper fit, and performing various alterations such as hemming, mending, lengthening, taking in, and letting out seams. The attendant will conduct garment fittings to determine necessary alterations, label garments, record changes, and communicate effectively with staff or guests to understand their specifications and preferences. Additionally, the position requires using an iron or pressing machine to remove creases and operating a serger machine when applicable.
