About The Position
The Seamstress/Tailor position at Buckle Brands is integral to fulfilling the company's mission of creating the most enjoyable shopping experience for guests. This role involves performing a variety of operational tasks to support alterations in the store, particularly focusing on the hemming of jeans and pants. The Seamstress/Tailor is expected to deliver quality alterations while adhering to guest specifications and maintaining high standards of customer service. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, as it may involve working during peak times such as mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, including the day of and the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas, depending on business needs. In this role, the Seamstress/Tailor will utilize Buckle-provided sewing machines and supplies to execute alterations. Responsibilities include measuring and marking alteration lines, pinning folds, removing stitches, resewing garments, and pressing merchandise. The position also entails maintaining a clean and organized work area, recording all work in an alteration log, and upholding specified productivity guidelines, which typically involve completing four jean alterations per hour. The Seamstress/Tailor must communicate effectively with store leaders and provide feedback regarding merchandise handling concerns, all while adhering to Buckle's Code of Ethics and company policies. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities, and candidates must be at least 18 years of age. The physical demands of the job include standing for extended periods, using hands for detailed work, and the ability to lift and maneuver up to 30 pounds. The work environment is a retail store setting with a moderate noise level, and the role requires a commitment to providing exceptional customer service and contributing to a positive team spirit.
