About The Position

WE ARE GROWING! COME JOIN A NEW TEAM IN OUR NEW LOCATION IN CLINTON, IL. Meyer Utility Structures is searching for Seamers for our new location in Clinton, IL. As a Seamer, you’ll be required to safely Operate sub-arc welding equipment to join metal components according to weld procedures and specifications. The Seamer will monitor the welding process, observing meters and gauges to ensure quality and compliance with weld procedures. What You’ll Do: Operate sub-arc welding equipment to join metal components according to weld procedures and specifications Set up the welding machine, including adjusting amperage, voltage, wire feed speed, and filling the flux hopper Monitor the welding process, observing meters and gauges to ensure quality and compliance with weld procedures Visually inspect finished welds for defects, ensuring proper penetration and adherence to quality standards Clean and prepare surfaces for welding and remove slag and spatter after welding is complete Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure they are in safe, working condition Follow all safety protocols, maintain a clean work area, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Maintain production records and report any issues or needed repairs to supervisors and/or maintenance Utilize job performance software to track individual jobs and work performance Position components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding Perform other duties as assigned What You'll Need: High school diploma or GED required or trade school certification is a plus The ability to maintain a good attendance record At least 1 year of experience in a sub-arc welding/fabrication shop The ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly The ability to reach, stoop, kneel, bend, and use hands for handling tools and controls Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team Compensation and Benefits: Meyer Utility Structures is proud to offer competitive benefits and programs to help you and your family meet your healthcare and retirement planning needs. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required or trade school certification is a plus
