About The Position

WEIS is seeking a Seafood Sales Associate who aligns with a company culture that values respect, understanding, and appreciation for its associates, and is passionate about teamwork and community growth. This role involves maintaining a well-stocked and appealing seafood area, providing excellent customer service by greeting customers, making suggestions, and offering information on seafood preparation. The associate will take orders, fulfill special requests, and promptly resolve customer concerns. Key responsibilities include setting up displays, rotating products, ensuring seafood freshness, proper pricing, and signage, and handling spoiled or damaged products according to company standards. The associate will weigh and wrap merchandise, maintain freshness and quality logs, and adhere to all food and personal safety codes, including the use of company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE) such as cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear. General sanitation of the department, following cleaning schedules, and maintaining work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases to meet health and OSHA requirements are also crucial. The role supports inventory control by assisting the manager with ordering, minimizing losses, and reporting shortages or overages. Training will be provided for potential tasks such as receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack, and baling cardboard. The associate is expected to cooperate with co-workers and superiors to ensure smooth department and store operations and to continuously improve job performance. This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities and may require assisting in other departments as needed.

Requirements

Completed or working towards a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

Keeps seafood area well stocked and appealing to meet customer requirements.
Smiles and greets customers, makes suggestions and provides information on seafood preparation.
Takes orders for future delivery and helps fill special requests.
Helps resolve customer concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
Sets up displays and rotates product as needed.
Ensures that seafood is fresh, in saleable condition with proper prices and signage.
Handles product that is spoiled, damaged or close to expiration as detailed by company procedures and standards.
Removes product that is not saleable to ensure quality.
Weighs and wraps merchandise for customers and applies sticker showing price and weight.
Maintains necessary logs to track freshness and quality.
Adheres to all food and personal safety codes when handling product or utilizing kitchen tools.
Responsible for general sanitation of the department.
Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
Disposes of trash properly.
Helps manager control inventory through proper ordering.
Helps minimize losses by returning products to refrigeration.
Reports shortages or overages to manager.
May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of a power jack or hand jack if properly trained.
May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained.
Ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and superiors.
Responsible to continuously improve job performance.
Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE).
May also be called upon to assist in other departments.
