About The Position

The position involves creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while establishing and maintaining a safe and clean environment that encourages customer return. The role requires directing and supervising all functions, duties, and activities for the Meat/Seafood department, supporting day-to-day operations, and embracing the Customer 1st strategy to encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Requirements

  • Minimum effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Current food handlers permit once employed.
  • Possess adequate knife handling skills and knife speed.

Nice To Haves

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, and labeling.
  • Seafood experience.
  • Retail experience.
  • Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Meat/Seafood department.
  • Support the day-to-day functions of the Meat/Seafood operations.
  • Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.

  • Communicate company, department, and job specific information to associates.
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork.
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates.
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
  • Train and develop associates on job performance.
  • Cut seafood to customers' requests using proper cutting equipment.
  • Offer product samples to customers.
  • Inform customers of meat/seafood specials.
  • Prepare foods according to food temperature logs.
  • Develop and implement a department business plan.
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  • Monitor and control expenses for the department.
  • Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions.
  • Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process.
  • Reinforce safety programs and comply with safety procedures.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Report all safety risks, or issues, and illegal activity.
