They will learn the team's role in shaping global logistics and strategic decision-making, equipping them with a solid understanding of sea freight's role in the company's success. This 12 months internship program offers comprehensive exposure to Kuehne + Nagel's corporate trade team, focusing on global logistics, maritime regulations, and pricing strategies. Specific goals and objectives include: Understanding Team Roles: Interns learn the responsibilities of different groups within the trade team and how they collaborate, with an emphasis on regional structures and weekly calls with sub-regions. Learning About Rates: Interns explore how rates are formulated, focusing on fixed, floating, and premium rates, as well as global versus regional pricing. This knowledge is key to providing competitive quotes. Understanding Ocean Carrier Agreements: Interns are introduced to agreements between carriers and shippers, including their structure and compliance with Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) regulations. Role of the FMC: Interns will understand the FMC's regulatory role in maritime operations. Understanding Contracts: Interns learn the significance of contracts, compliance, and the consequences of non-compliance, including penalties or service disruptions.
