About The Position

The Apprentice Trainer at Sea Life Park Hawaii is an entry-level position designed to provide support to experienced animal trainers while gaining essential knowledge and skills in animal training and care. This apprenticeship involves on-the-job training, where the apprentice will observe, assist, and learn about animal husbandry and training techniques without direct interaction with animals unless directed by management.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Some experience in animal care or training preferred, such as internships or volunteering in zoos or aquariums.

Nice To Haves

• College degree in a related field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for proper food preparation, sanitation, and distribution.
• Administers safe and appropriate feeding.
• Acquire knowledge of basic training and vocabulary.
• Effectively use Approximations in training.
• Acquire knowledge of proper animal husbandry.
• Identify each animal by name.
• Gain knowledge of each animal's history.
• Experience in safe and proper handling, restraint, and transportation of animals.
• Engage with the public by performing in shows/presentations and speaking in front of an audience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
