About The Position

Join the University of Richmond’s Office of Emergency Management as a Safety Ambassador and play a vital role in promoting the safety and well-being of our campus community. As one of two ambassadors, you will represent the Office of Emergency Management by leading outreach initiatives, facilitating trainings, and engaging students through creative programming to elevate campus safety awareness.

Requirements

  • Current University of Richmond student.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable engaging with diverse student groups and leading events.
  • Creative and proactive mindset for social media and outreach content creation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with professionalism.
  • Commitment to campus safety and willingness to learn about emergency management topics.

Responsibilities

  • Complete onboarding and training sessions to prepare for your role.
  • Attend scheduled safety events, team meetings (3 per semester), and trainings such as Fire Safety, Narcan Administration, Stop the Bleed, AED/CPR, and self-defense, accommodating your academic schedule.
  • Deliver safety presentations (5 to 30 minutes) to student clubs, organizations, and athletic teams.
  • Develop original social media content—including posts, flyers, and videos—to effectively promote safety campaigns.
  • Plan, support, and host interactive campus activities focused on safety, such as bingo, Family Feud, and tabling events.
  • Assist in the development of educational scripts and videos to be used in outreach and training activities.
  • Maintain professional, respectful communication with supervisors and peers, responding to messages within 24 hours.
  • Earn a minimum of 100 points per semester by participating in various activities such as presentations, events, social media creation, training sessions, and support tasks.
  • Maintain professionalism and reliability, including punctual attendance and adherence to university policies.
  • Promptly inform supervisors of emergencies or unavoidable absences to discuss accommodations.
