About The Position

The Athletics department at Drexel University is seeking an Intramural Official to oversee officiated intramural contests. This role involves enforcing established rules during competitions, ensuring a safe environment for participants, and creating an inclusive atmosphere. The official will also be responsible for reporting results and scores to the Intramural Supervisor and ensuring proper use of university equipment by participants. This position requires attendance at training sessions and regular meetings, as well as a commitment to a recurring schedule for an entire 11-week term.

Requirements

  • Currently an enrolled student at Drexel University and in good academic standing.
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 6 hours to a max of 20 hours a week.
  • Ability to commit to a recurring schedule for an entire 11-week term.
  • Available to work some nights, weekends, holidays, and breaks.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Control of all officiated Intramural contests.
  • Enforce established rules during intramural competitions.
  • Attend required training sessions and regular officials' meetings.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding of rules and officiating.
  • Enforce and evaluate sportsmanship of intramural participants.
  • Ensure a safe environment for intramural participants by inspecting the playing area before and during competition.
  • Ensure correct attire of each participant based on each sport's restrictions.
  • Report results and scores of intramural competitions to Intramural Supervisor.
  • Ensure proper use of all university equipment by program participants.
  • Create a welcome, safe, and inclusive environment for all individuals.
  • Attend bi-annual All Staff Training and area-specific trainings each term.
