Peer Advisors (PAs) are full-time undergraduate students who serve as a bridge between Career Services and the UR student population. PAs support the mission of Career Services by expanding the office’s ability to support students through career advising, workshop facilitation, and project-based and administrative work. The Peer Advisor plays a vital role by using excellent communication skills while delivering accurate information to campus constituents and the public. This position also serves as the first point of contact in the Career Services office and assists with administrative work at our front desk. Being a Peer Advisor in Career Services will give you the opportunity to serve as a leader among your peers, assist and teach other students, work professionally with Career Services staff, gain first-hand knowledge of Career Services connections and resources, and add great experience to your resume. The majority of the Peer Advisor role occurs during traditional business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm). Peer Advisors must be available a minimum of 8 hours per week. Average workload is 8-15 hours per week, and we will work around your class schedule. These hours will encompass the following: Staffing the office front desk and drop-in advising (about 4-6 hours) Facilitating 1-2 workshops per semester and meeting for workshop preparation Attending monthly meetings with supervisor and weekly staff meetings Working on various projects and attending campus events on behalf of Career Services as needed This position is only open to undergraduate students at the University of Richmond.
