Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Parts, Materials and Processes (PM&P) Engineering Section Manager 2 for the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division Engineering and Manufacturing team. This leadership role will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA and will provide enabling support for all business areas within the SDS portfolio. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM degree from an accredited university and 8 years’ experience in DoD, aerospace, oil and gas, or nuclear regulated industries.
  • Master's Degree in a STEM degree from an accredited university and 6 years’ experience in DoD, aerospace, oil and gas, or nuclear regulated industries.
  • 2 years of experience in Parts, Materials and Processes (PM&P) or EEE/EEEE components engineering disciplines.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing people preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience interpreting and ensuring design compliance to industry and/or military standards.
  • Experience using Siemens Teamcenter, Siemens Xpedition or Siemens Capital software.
  • Working knowledge of MIL-STD-1580 Destructive Physical Analysis for electronic components.
  • Experience developing Source Control Drawings or Component Specifications for EEEE components.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a PM&P Design discipline Section within the SDS Design Engineering organization.
  • Provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team of Individual Contributors (ICs).
  • Conduct personnel performance management, process familiarization, and training for Section members.
  • Support workforce planning and maintain sufficient depth and breadth of skillsets within the team.
  • Responsible for employee performance reviews and supporting employee career development.
  • Provide performance feedback, training, mentoring, and coaching to employees.
  • Support development and refinement of processes and tools for business areas and programs.
  • Support proposal work, independent technical reviews, program standup and audits.
  • Provide technical support to Sentinel program ensuring integration with design teams.
  • Lead EEEE PM&P engineers in selection and application of Electrical, Electronics, Electro-Mechanical, Electro-Optical (EEEE) parts.
  • Oversee development of Component Specifications or Source Control Documents.
  • Interface with program office on CDRLs, requirement tailoring, and other PM&P issues.
  • Perform risk analysis, trade studies, process improvement analysis, and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with other engineering assignment managers/leads to align priorities.
