About The Position

Collins Aerospace is currently seeking highly motivated student engineers for our Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) Project Engineering department, located in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. The SDE team is focused on leading engineering projects for engine control systems products designed and manufactured by our supplier base. We are engaged at all levels with our internal and external customers during every stage of the aerospace product life cycle (development, entry into service, in-service support). We are a highly collaborative team that interfaces with multiple engineering disciplines, as well as business-related functions. In this role you can expect to gain experience supporting a variety of mechanical products that include pneumatic valves, hydraulic valves/actuators, and heat exchangers on large commercial and business aviation engines programs. Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run June-December (including the Fall semester); it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Responsibilities

  • Work with experienced engineers to perform system and component requirements reviews and compliance assessments for complex engine control system components.
  • Support experienced project engineers with engine control system component investigations using relentless root cause and corrective action process.
  • Support or manage project tasks related to engineering change execution and production incorporation.
  • Execute development tasks aligned with Collins engineering standard work.
  • Interface with component suppliers and other members of the integrated product development team (chief engineers, systems engineers, program management, etc.).
