About The Position

The Parent Coordinator is a key facilitator and relationship-builder for the Sustainable Community Schools (SCS) strategy. This role supports community engagement, shared leadership, strategic planning, and compliance for school- and community-based programming. The Coordinator centers equity, collaborates with diverse stakeholders (parents, youth, educators, staff, and community partners), and ensures that resources align with a shared school-community vision.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Chicago Public Schools and local community-based organizations.
  • Additional language skills reflective of the community served.
  • Experience with restorative practices, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and/or wraparound service coordination.
  • Familiarity with Cityspan or similar data systems.
  • Deep commitment to racial justice, equity, and community-led decision-making.
  • Proven experience in community organizing, youth development, education, or related fields.
  • Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and innovate.
  • Committed to collaboration, problem-solving, and building a strong team.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).
  • Must pass CPS Background Check.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate ongoing community studies to map school and neighborhood assets, needs, leaders, and opportunities with the school community.
  • Build and sustain authentic, trusting relationships with all community members, centering voices historically excluded from decision-making.
  • Organize and facilitate regular opportunities for the community to learn about, participate in, and shape the SCS strategy.
  • Co-design outreach strategies with the Leadership Team to engage at least 75% of each stakeholder group (youth, parents, educators, community).
  • Maintain timely and accurate attendance records for all programs, including: Program rosters; paper attendance forms and sign-in sheets Electronic attendance tracking/data entry in Cityspan
  • Develop and implement a procedure to ensure all instructors submit attendance on time; collect attendance regularly and ensure compliance.
  • Manage timesheets, check requests, check distribution, and reimbursements for all SCS staff and instructors.
  • Adhere to payment schedules for timely submittal of check requests.
  • Follow all CPS Policies and Procedures and applicable funder requirements.
